Scan by Tathya works without an account and keeps every document on your phone. These answers cover the most common questions.
How do I put both sides of an ID card on one page?
Tap Scan and choose ID Card. Scan the front, then the back. The app places both on one A4 page at real card size (85.6 × 54 mm), front above back, so you can print it at 100% scale as a photocopy. You can also choose a larger, 1.5× size.
The scanner won't open or can't find the edges.
On iPhone, the scanner needs camera access: open Settings > Scan by Tathya and turn on Camera. Place the page on a plain, contrasting surface in good light. On Android, the first scan may take a moment while Google Play services downloads the scanner, so stay online the first time.
Can I import photos and PDFs I already have?
Yes. Add pages from Photos (only the photos you pick are shared with the app) or from Files. Images become pages you can edit; PDFs are added to your library as they are, so you can share, rename, move and merge them, but not edit their pages.
How do I copy text from a page?
Open a document and tap Copy text. Text is recognised on your phone, then you can copy or share it. Latin-script languages work best for now.
How do I merge documents?
In the library, touch and hold a document to select several, then choose Merge. Scans stay editable after merging, and the original documents are always kept. A password-protected PDF can be imported but can't be merged.
Can I make a password-protected PDF?
Not yet. We'd rather not offer protection we can't do properly, so PDFs are saved without a password in this version.
Where are my documents, and how do I back them up?
Documents are stored in the app on your phone. There is no account or cloud copy, so share important PDFs to Files, iCloud Drive or email if you want a copy elsewhere. Deleting the app deletes its documents.
How do I free up space or delete everything?
Settings shows how much space the app uses. Clear temporary files removes unsaved scans and export copies. Delete all documents removes your whole library from the app.
