GeoCam by Tathya · Privacy

Your location stays on your phone.

GeoCam by Tathya stamps your photos with where and when they were taken. TathyaLabs does not run a server for the app and never receives your photos, locations or notes. This policy explains what the app uses, what it stores, and the system services it relies on to show an address and a map.

The short version

Location

With your permission, GeoCam reads your precise location, altitude, accuracy and compass heading while the app is open, to show them on the viewfinder and stamp them on your photos. The app cannot access your location in the background. Plus Codes and DIGIPINs are calculated on your phone.

To turn coordinates into a street address, the app uses the geocoding service built into your phone's operating system. This sends the coordinates to Apple on iPhone, or to the provider of your Android phone's geocoding service (usually Google), under their privacy policies. Without a connection, GeoCam stamps coordinates only.

On iPhone, the map on the stamp and on a photo's details comes from Apple Maps, which loads map images for the area around the location from Apple. On Android, GeoCam draws a simple map graphic on the phone instead and uses no map service.

Camera and Photos

What the app stores, and where

The app keeps a copy of each stamped photo and a thumbnail in its private storage on your device, together with a record of each photo: its coordinates, accuracy, altitude, heading, address, note, project, time and time zone, and where it is saved in Photos. It also keeps your projects, settings, stamp design and logo. TathyaLabs never receives any of this.

Like other app data, this may be included in your phone's own backups (for example iCloud Backup) if you have them turned on. Those backups are controlled by you and Apple or Google; TathyaLabs cannot access them.

Sharing and exports

When you share a photo, export a project's CSV log or export all data as JSON, the file goes only where you send it through the system share sheet. Open in Maps passes the photo's coordinates to your maps app, or to the Google Maps website if no maps app is available. TathyaLabs does not receive a copy.

The stamp is part of the image. Anyone you share a stamped photo with can see the location, address and time printed on it, so check before you share.

Contacting us

If you email us from the app or this website, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them only to reply.

Retention and deletion

Your photos and records stay on your device until you delete them. You can delete a photo from GeoCam only or from Photos too, use Settings > Delete all data (optionally also removing GeoCam's photos from Photos), or delete the app. Photos saved to your Photos library stay there until you delete them, and files you shared or exported stay where you sent them.

Children

GeoCam by Tathya does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
