Cards by Tathya · Support

Quick answers between study sessions.

Cards by Tathya works offline, without an account, and keeps your collection on your phone. These answers cover the most common questions.

How do I import a deck?

Open Settings and choose Import decks, or open an .apkg, .colpkg, .csv or .tsv file from Files, Safari or Mail and pick Cards. Anki packages bring their subdecks, note types, tags, images and audio. Notes already in your collection are skipped.

Will my review progress come with an imported deck?

By default, imported cards start as new. Turn on "Keep review intervals" when importing to keep each review card's due date and interval. Past review history isn't imported, and cards that were still in learning start again as new.

Some cards show raw formulas.

LaTeX and MathJax aren't supported yet, so formulas such as \( … \) or $$ … $$ appear as plain text. Formatting such as bold, italics, colours and images works.

How does scheduling work?

Cards uses FSRS, a modern spaced-repetition algorithm. Set your desired retention in Settings (90% by default): a higher value means more reviews and better recall. Each answer button shows when you'll see the card next. Daily limits for new cards and reviews can be set for all decks or per deck.

My study reminder didn't arrive, or shows an old count.

Allow notifications for Cards by Tathya in your phone's settings and choose a reminder time in the app. The due count in the reminder is worked out when you last used the app, so it can be slightly out of date.

Text-to-speech sounds wrong or doesn't speak.

Open the deck to set its text-to-speech language, and pick a voice in Settings > Text-to-speech. Cards uses your phone's built-in voices, so you may need to download a voice for that language in your phone's settings first.

How do I move my cards to a new phone?

In Settings, choose Back up collection and save the file to Files, iCloud Drive or email. On the new phone, choose Restore from backup and pick that file. Restoring replaces everything in the app on that phone.

How do I delete my data?

Open Settings and choose Delete all data. Your decks, cards, media and review history are erased from your phone. Deleting the app does the same.
