Your decks stay on your phone.
Cards by Tathya works fully offline. TathyaLabs does not run a server for the app and never receives your decks, cards, images, audio or review history. This policy explains what the app stores and the times data leaves the app, always because you chose it.

The short version
- No account, no sign-up and no servers. The app makes no network requests of its own.
- No analytics, no crash-reporting SDK, no ads and no tracking.
- Imports are processed on your phone, and reminders are scheduled on your phone.
- Backups are files you create and control.
What the app stores, and where
Your collection is kept in a database in the app's private storage on your device: decks, note types, notes and cards, tags, your review history and scheduling data, and your settings. Images and audio used in your cards are stored alongside it. TathyaLabs never receives any of this.
Like other app data, your collection may be included in your phone's own backups (for example iCloud Backup) if you have them turned on. Those backups are controlled by you and Apple or Google; TathyaLabs cannot access them.
Imports, camera and photos
- When you import an .apkg, .colpkg, CSV or TSV file, or open one in Cards from another app, the app reads only that file and processes it on your phone.
- The camera is used only when you choose to take a photo for a card. The photo picker gives the app only the images you pick, and they are copied into the app.
- The app plays audio in your cards but has no microphone access.
- Text-to-speech uses the speech voices built into your phone's operating system.
Reminders
If you allow notifications, the app schedules a daily study reminder on your phone, showing how many cards are due. No push server is involved. You can turn the reminder off in the app or in your phone's settings.
Backups and exports
You can back up your whole collection as a file, export a deck as CSV, and restore a backup. Backup and export files go only where you send them through the system share sheet, such as Files, iCloud Drive or email. TathyaLabs does not receive a copy.
Contacting us
If you email us from the app or this website, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them only to reply.
Retention and deletion
Your collection stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete cards and decks, use Settings > Delete all data to erase everything, or delete the app. Backup files you exported stay where you saved them.
Children
Cards by Tathya does not collect personal information from anyone, including children and students.
