Quick answers, then back to recording.

The app works without an account and keeps your recordings on your phone. These answers cover the most common questions. Tap Record: Voice Recorder on Google Play and Recorder by Tathya on the App Store are the same app, and this page covers both.

Does it keep recording with the screen locked?

Yes. On iPhone it keeps recording in the background; on Android it shows a notification while it records, so the system doesn’t stop it. On Android, allow notifications for the app and don’t restrict its battery use.

Transcription says my language isn’t available.

Pick a language your phone can transcribe on the device (Settings › Transcription language). On Android 13 or later, tap Download model to get the language from Google. If your phone has no on-device model for a language, you can turn on server recognition in Settings, which sends that recording’s audio to Apple or Google.

What does the SERVER label mean?

That transcript was made by Apple’s or Google’s servers because server recognition was on. Transcripts labelled ON-DEVICE never left your phone.

How do I share a recording or its transcript?

Open the recording and tap Share: send the audio, the transcript as text, subtitles (.srt or .vtt) or notes (.md).

How do I move my recordings to a new phone?

Use Settings › Back up to Files… and choose a folder that the new phone can reach, such as a cloud drive or a USB drive. On the new phone, Restore from backup… adds what isn’t there yet.

I deleted a recording by mistake.

Open Recently Deleted and restore it. Recordings stay there for 30 days.

How do I delete everything?

Settings › Delete all data removes every recording, transcript, folder and setting. Deleting the app does the same.

Still need help?

Tell us your phone model, its Android or iOS version, the app version and what you were trying to do. Please don’t attach recordings unless you want us to listen to one.
