Your photos stay on your phone.
Every film look is developed on your device. TathyaLabs does not run a server for the app and never receives your photos. This policy explains what the app uses and stores, and the times data leaves it, always because you chose it. Glowroll: Retro Film Camera on Google Play and Film by Tathya on the App Store are the same app, and this page covers both.
Last updated: October 29, 2026
The short version
- No account, no sign-up and no servers. The app makes no network requests of its own.
- No analytics, no crash-reporting SDK, no ads and no tracking.
- No location and no microphone: prints carry only their capture date, never GPS or device details.
- Photos leave the app only when you save or share them.
Camera and Photos
- The camera is used to take photos while you use the camera screen. The app has no microphone access, on iPhone or Android.
- Importing uses the system photo picker, so the app receives only the photos you pick.
- Saving puts developed prints (and, if you turn it on, the camera original) in the app’s album: “Film by Tathya” in Photos on iPhone, and “Glowroll” (the Pictures/Glowroll folder) in your gallery on Android.
- On iPhone, saving uses Photos access; with limited or add-only access, prints still go to your library without the album. On Android 13 and later saving needs no permission, and on Android 12 and older the app asks for storage permission only to save. The Android app never asks to read your photo library, and if a phone’s gallery refuses the album, prints are saved to the gallery without it.
- The app never asks for your location. The date written into a print is its capture date; no location or device information is written.
What the app stores, and where
The app keeps, in its private storage on your device: your developed prints, the originals they were made from (so you can re-edit them), your rolls, each print’s film, edits and capture date, and your settings. TathyaLabs never receives any of this.
Like other app data, what the app stores may be included in your phone’s own backups if you have them turned on: an iCloud or computer backup on iPhone, or Android’s backup to your Google account. Those backups are controlled by you and Apple or Google; TathyaLabs cannot access them.
Sharing and exports
When you share a print, it goes only where you send it through the system share sheet. Export photo list (JSON) saves your settings, rolls and print list (not the images) as a file that goes only where you send it. TathyaLabs does not receive a copy.

You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on or by blocking cookies.
Retention and deletion
Your prints stay in the app until you delete them. Use Settings › Delete all data to erase everything the app stored, or delete the app. Prints you saved to Photos and files you shared stay where you put them.
