Quick answers for a tidier library.
Clean by Tathya works without an account and analyses your library on your phone. These answers cover the most common questions.
How does it decide what's a duplicate?
Duplicates are exact copies or photos that look identical, even if they were saved years apart. Similar photos are bursts and retakes taken moments apart that look nearly the same. In each group, we keep the favourite (when Keep favourites is on), then the highest resolution, the largest file and the newest, and pre-select the rest. You can change any selection before deleting. To find more or fewer similar photos, change the sensitivity in Settings.
I deleted something by mistake.
On iPhone, open the Photos app and look in Recently Deleted. Items stay there for 30 days and you can recover them. Clean by Tathya never deletes anything without your confirmation and the system's.
Why do some sizes have a ≈ sign?
When the exact size of an item can't be measured on your phone, for example some slow-motion videos, we show an estimate and mark it with ≈ rather than guess silently.
The first scan is slow, or it's using mobile data.
The first scan looks at every photo, so it can take a while on a large library. You can pause it and it resumes where it left off; later scans only look at new and edited items. If you use iCloud Photos with Optimize iPhone Storage, iOS may download originals while the app analyses them, so run the first scan on Wi-Fi.
It only shows some of my photos.
You may have given access to selected photos only. Open Settings in the app and tap Select more photos, or allow full access in the Settings app on your phone. The app rescans automatically.
How do I start over?
Settings > Clear analysis cache forgets the stored analysis so the next scan starts from scratch. Settings > Delete all app data removes everything the app stored, including your cleanup history. Neither deletes any photos.
Still need help?
Tell us your phone model, its iOS or Android version, the app version and roughly how many photos you have. Please don't send personal photos.
