Your files never leave your phone.
Every tool in the app runs on your device. Your PDFs, images and signatures are never uploaded, and TathyaLabs does not run a server for the app. This policy explains what the app stores, the one time it uses the internet, and how files leave it, always because you chose it. PDF Tray: Edit, Merge & Sign on Google Play and PDF Editor by Tathya on the App Store are the same app, and this page covers both.

The short version
- No account, no uploads and no servers. Merging, compressing, converting, editing, signing and protecting all happen on your phone.
- No analytics, no crash-reporting SDK, no ads and no tracking.
- The only network use: the first time you run OCR, the app downloads its text-recognition engine and language pack. Nothing of yours is sent.
- Files leave the app only when you share or save them somewhere.
What the app stores, and where
Everything is kept in the app’s private storage on your device: the files you make or import, your folders, Recently deleted (emptied after 30 days), temporary copies of shared-in files (removed after 24 hours), page thumbnails, reading positions, recent and pinned tools, your settings and the signatures and initials you save (pictures of your signature, kept on this phone only). Passwords you type to open or protect a PDF are used on the phone for that task and are not saved.
Like other app data, what the app stores may be included in your phone’s own backups if you have them turned on: an iCloud or computer backup on iPhone, or Android’s backup to your Google account. Those backups are controlled by you and Apple or Google; TathyaLabs cannot access them. On iPhone, when the phone is connected to a computer, the app’s folder of files also appears in Finder file sharing.
The one network use: OCR’s first run
OCR (the OCR PDF tool) recognises text with an engine that runs inside the app. The first time it runs, the app downloads the recognition engine and the language pack you picked from jsDelivr, a public content network. These are downloads only: no file, page, image or text of yours is sent. Like any web request, jsDelivr sees your network (IP) address and a browser identifier, under its own privacy policy. The downloads are kept on the phone, so later runs normally work offline.
HTML to PDF renders the HTML you give it on your phone. If that HTML links to online images or style sheets, they are loaded like in a browser.
Camera, scanning and photos
- On iPhone, Scan to PDF uses Apple’s document camera, which runs on your device.
- On Android, scanning uses Google’s ML Kit document scanner, part of Google Play services. It runs on your phone and returns the pages to the app; it has its own camera access. Google may download or update it and may receive technical information about how it performs, such as device model and error codes, under Google’s terms. Your pages are not sent to TathyaLabs.
- The camera is used only when you choose to take a photo, and the photo picker gives the app only the photos you pick.
- Files shared to the app from other apps, or opened with it, are copied into the app; it reads nothing else.
Privacy lock
The optional lock uses Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode on iPhone, and your fingerprint, face or screen lock on Android. The system checks it and tells the app only whether it succeeded, so the app never receives biometric data. With Hide content in the app switcher on, the app shows its logo instead of your files there.
Sharing and saving
Share, Save to Files and Share ZIP hand a file to the system share sheet or file picker, so it goes only where you send it. TathyaLabs does not receive a copy. Redact PDF redraws pages as images so the hidden text is really gone; Edit text covers and retypes a line, and the old words stay in the file, as the app says.
Contacting us
If you email us from the app or this website, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them only to reply. Please don’t send us documents unless you want us to look at a problem with that file.
This website
These pages on tathyalabs.com use Google Analytics to count visits: which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are (country and city), their device and browser, and how they arrived. For visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland it runs without cookies. Google signals and ad personalisation are off, and the site shows no ads. The app itself contains no analytics. You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on or by blocking cookies.
Retention and deletion
Files stay on your device until you delete them. Deleted files wait in Recently deleted for 30 days unless you empty it; Settings › Storage › Clear temporary files removes temporary copies. To remove everything, select all files and delete them, then empty Recently deleted, or uninstall the app, which deletes everything it stored. Files you shared or saved elsewhere stay there.
